The imaginative world of acclaimed picture-book author Yoshitake Shinsuke comes vividly to life on stage in a colorful production created by choreographer and dancer Suzuki Takuro.
A sold-out success at its 2024 premiere at the Saitama Arts Theater, “The Dancing Picture Book: Can You See? Still Can't See?” is a dance performance for the whole family by the innovative dancer and choreographer Suzuki Takuro—and now it is coming to Kitakyushu.
Inspired by Yoshitake’s beloved picture book of the same title, the stage bursts with a delightful cast of unique extraterrestrial characters who leap out from the pages to dance, jump, and run across the stage. Filled with imagination, humor, and wonder, this heartwarming performance is sure to leave not only children but also adults with a warm glow in their hearts long after the curtain falls.
Story

They keep saying things like, “It must be so hard not being able to see behind you,” and “It’s amazing that you can walk without seeing what’s behind you,” which makes me feel rather strange. Then I decide to talk to someone who cannot see at all. The world that this person “sees” is vastly different from my own...
