A new dance movement from Kyushu is starting again!
“Gimmick” is a serious dance work created by choreographer and dancer Shigehiro Ide with auditioned members in 2017. The work tricked the audience with various gimmicks through unexpected, thrilling scenes and the unique movements of the dancers with distinctive characteristics. This sensational dance work will be renewed and will come back to Kitakyushu as “Gimmicks” with additional members! The show and workshop will be held in Kitakyushu, Miyazaki, and Kumamoto. Choreography and Direction
Shigehiro Ide
Ide was born in Saga Prefecture. His choreography is recognized for its combination of everyday gestures and movements that take advantage of the individuality of the dancers involved, as well as the originality of the group dancing it employs. He is also highly acclaimed as a dancer for his smooth yet powerful physicality. In addition to the creation in his own company, Ide works across boundaries and choreographs theatrical works, commercial works, and music videos. Recently, he choreographed a music video of Ringo Sheena, Gen Hoshino, Avril Lavigne, and Nogizaka46. He also choreographed NODA・MAP’s “Gekirin” and “Gansaku Sakura no Mori no Mankai no Shita”(directed by Hideki Noda), “Insho-ha NÉO” (featuring Mari Natsuki), “Hamlet”(directed by John Caird), Saitama Gold Theater’s “Usui Momoiro no Katamari”(directed by Ryo Iwamatsu), and “Kodomo no Jijo”(directed by Koki Mitani). www.idevian.com

About Kitakyushu Performing Arts Center Dance Creation
Kitakyushu Performing Arts Center organizes a dance festival “Dance Dive Week” since 2013 to celebrate individual dance born from individual body. “Dance Creation” started at the fifth anniversary of the festival in 2017 to provide a learning opportunity for emerging local choreographers and dancers through participation in the creation. Shigehiro Ide has participated in this project for three years since 2017 as a director of the creation and an instructor of the workshop.
